The resources include the campus network with over 4000 PCs and wireless network. Also it comprises of several servers for elearning, email, academic registration system, proxies, DNS, LDAP, & webservers. With my current position I am supposed to be able to manage email systems for over 30,000 mailboxes and over 4000PCs as explained earlier. These calls for special skills as compared to managing small networks as challenges are many. The challenges will force me as the manager to have right tools to be able to monitor and manage the network efficiently, hence a request to attend network monitoring & management track. In terms of my expertise for current & future networking activities in the country, I shall be actively involved on knowledge transfer through professional training we conduct often within UCC as well through consultancies we perform to several organizations, private and governmental. The systems are Linux, Solaris and Windows based. The network services include DNS, DHCP and Squid Proxies. The network itself is made up of Cisco gadgets including Cisco 2950, 3500, 4503, 6504 and 7304. The Cisco 7304 connects the oraganisation to the Internet through STM-1 link. The country by itself has several links to the Internet trough SEACOM, EASSY and VSATs.
